Your Ayurvedic daily detox
Cleansing for health according to Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, the best time of year to cleanse the body and mind is spring. But autumn is also ideal for getting rid of waste and toxins. One of the most well-known fasting cures in Ayurveda is the Panchakarma cure, which takes place under medical supervision over several days and is the most intensive form of fasting. It detoxifies on a physical and mental level, and toxins are eliminated. This type of cleansing is recommended above all for serious and chronic illnesses.
However, Ayurveda also offers gentler detox treatments, some of which can be done on your own or with the support of Ayurveda experts. A simple way to achieve more vitality, prana (life energy) and well-being is to incorporate daily detox routines. These support the detoxification processes in the body.
Daily detox tips
-
A daily fasting window of approximately 12 - 14 hours supports the regeneration of your cells and stimulates the digestive and metabolic processes.
-
You should avoid eating anything for at least 13 hours overnight. This allows the detoxification process of the body and organs to take place optimally.
-
A restful sleep of between seven and nine hours allows your body to detoxify efficiently.
-
Before you eat or drink anything, clean your mouth by oil pulling (1 teaspoon of coconut oil or sesame oil) and scraping your tongue to remove bacteria and toxins.
-
Nasya is a nasal cleansing or protection that helps protect you from bacteria and viruses. This nourishes your nasal mucosa. Apply 2 drops of sesame oil to each nostril daily.
-
Only then do we drink warm lemon or ginger water, which stimulates our metabolism and digestion.
-
A well-functioning digestive system is essential to rid yourself of toxins and waste products. Regular, healthy, cooked meals, adding ghee to your food and taking breaks between meals will boost your digestive power.
-
Make sure you eat a diet that balances your blood sugar so that you don't overload your liver. You can find more information about this in the Blood Sugar Balance book .
-
Spices like ginger, pepper, trikatu, coriander, cumin, fennel, hing, fenugreek and turmeric support your digestion.
-
Drink plenty of warm water and herbal teas between meals to aid your detoxification.
-
According to Ayurveda, it is important to detoxify our minds too. After 8 p.m., I recommend avoiding computer work, surfing on your cell phone, and blue light so that your body and mind can switch to relaxation mode. Then nothing will stand in the way of a restful and detoxifying sleep.
