In our hectic everyday lives, it is often difficult to relax in the evening and get enough restful sleep. But lack of sleep can have serious consequences for our health and well-being. Ayurvedic spiced milk – a natural sleeping aid
A cup of warm spiced milk before bed is a simple and effective way to improve sleep quality. The spices it contains, such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom, have a calming effect and support our metabolic and digestive processes throughout the night.
Preparation of Ayurvedic spiced milk:
- Heat 1 teaspoon of ghee and add 1 pinch of nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of Ceylon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric.
- Add 250 ml of plant-based milk (oat milk, almond milk, rice milk...) or, if well tolerated, cow's milk with water 1:3.
- Let the milk simmer for 5 minutes, stirring.
- Sweeten with honey if desired. Cool the milk to drinking temperature and then add the honey.
- Drink the spiced milk 30 minutes before going to bed.
